Man arrested with 11 pounds of marijuana in vehicle

Everyone makes mistakes, and when you're facing drug charges, it's important for you to get to speak clearly about what happened without having to face a bias. The police may not understand why you were in possession of drugs or know the story behind your arrest, so it's important that the courts hear everything you have to say.

Here's an example of a case that could land you in jail. A man in Virginia is facing drug charges following a traffic stop that took place on U.S. 113. According to a Feb. 4 news report, the man was arrested in the town of Georgetown after they witnessed him violate several traffic laws while traveling in a Chevy Cruz.

Once stopped, the officer claims he smelled marijuana coming out of the vehicle. A narcotics K-9 was requested at the scene, and it alerted police to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

After the positive alert, the police searched the vehicle and discovered 11 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the car. The man, a 40-year-old from Virginia Beach, was arrested immediately.

He has been charged with a Tier 5 possession of marijuana charge for the quantity in his possession. He is also charged with the intent to deliver marijuana and for several traffic violations committed on the roads.

If your case is like this one, it's important to know that you have a right to a defense and to have an attorney present when you speak with police. You need to protect yourself, and that protection should start from the moment you're arrested.
