Captain of fire and EMS department arrested on drug charges

On Behalf of | Jun 1, 2016 | Drug Charges

Drug charges can sometimes seem to come out of nowhere. Perhaps you take prescription drugs and had an extra prescription, so it appeared you were shopping for doctors to obtain more to sell, or maybe you had someone riding in your car who left narcotics behind that you didn’t know about. Whatever the cause is for your drug charges, it’s important to make sure you defend yourself from the moment you’re arrested.

Not all cases are black and white, and not all of those who are arrested are who you’d expect to find in a jail cell. Take for instance this case involving a fire and EMS department’s captain. He’s been arrested on drug charges despite years of service.

A May 20 report claims that the captain for the D.C. Fire and EMS Department was arrested for drug and firearm possession charges. According to the news and police reports, the captain was taken into custody and charged with three different drug charges along with two weapons charges. The man was charged with possessing drugs with the intent to distribute, sell, or manufacture them as well. It was not indicated that he put up any fight when being taken into custody.

At the moment, the captain, who has been with the fire and EMS department since 2000, has been put on leave. The Maryland man faces charges in Virginia for the crimes he’s been accused of. There has allegedly already been a narcotics investigation that led police to the captain, who was in possession of Schedule 1 or 2 narcotics when he was arrested.
