Child custody modifications are sometimes necessary

On Behalf of | Jun 3, 2016 | Child Custody

Remember what it was like when you were going through the process of coming to an agreement with your ex about child custody matters? If you are like most, you probably remember a stressful situation. You probably don’t want to have to go through that again; however, if you find that the child custody agreement isn’t working for your child any longer, you might have to go back to the drawing board.

Child custody modifications are a way that parents can have a child custody agreement changed to reflect a child’s current needs. These modifications aren’t something that would be appropriate to seek all of the time, but if there have been major changes in your life, your ex’s life or your child’s life, a modification might be appropriate.

We know that you probably think that you will have to deal with a lot of stress when you need to seek a modification. We can’t promise to eliminate the stress but we can work toward making the process as easy as possible. We will help you put your child’s needs first throughout the process.

In some cases, it might be possible to work with your ex to get an agreement modified. This is often the least stressful course of action since you aren’t depending on the court to make a decision about your child. If you and the other parent can’t come to an agreement, it might be necessary to take your petition to court. In either case, we can help you show your side of the case for the modification.
