Virginia man arrested for traveling to Ohio to meet 14-year-old

A sex crime is a serious charge; even if you think you're participating in a legal act, you could be arrested. For instance, if a minor tells you that she's over 18 and you start a relationship, you could be accused of statutory rape. If that happens, a strong defense is needed to help you avoid jail or other penalties.

In Ohio, a report has come out about a man from Virginia who flew to the city of Cleveland to have sex with a 14-year-old girl he met online. According to the news reports, the 33-year-old man had been in touch with the girl for several months while they developed a relationship. What he didn't know was that the girl was actually an investigator with the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force who was investigating the man for crimes against minors.

The man allegedly sent several packages containing toys, stuffed animals, candy and lingerie. The man also reportedly said, according to the complaint, that he thought someone as young as 12 should be able to decide if he or she wants to have sex.

The man is a registered sex offender in Virginia, and he reportedly had sex toys and condoms in his carry-on bags. The story claims that he knew the "child" was 14 before he decided to visit her. He'll be held without bond until the case is complete. In the past, he admitted to having a relationship with a girl who was 15 as well as chatting with a 14-year-old girl in an explicit manner.
