Alleged drunk driver runs over woman at Virginia music fest

A woman went to the nTelos Wireless Pavilion to see a musical performance in Virginia, but she did not make it home. She was struck by a car while she was leaving. This happened on a Thursday night. The woman did survive the accident, but her injuries were said to be serious, and she was rushed to a hospital to get care.

The police were told that the crash had taken place around 10:15 in the evening, with those reports coming from emergency personnel who were working at the concert. The concert itself is known as 96X Fest.

According to the police, the woman who was behind the wheel of the car that caused the accident was drunk. She apparently was turning off of Court Street trying to get onto Bart Street, but she went in the wrong direction.

After making the turn, she allegedly kept driving the wrong way down the road until she ran into the median. This happened by Crawford Circle. After hitting the median, she crashed into the woman who was on foot, a 27-year-old. Still not stopping, she drove through a fence that had been set up to surround the event.

The police have now leveled two charges on the driver, one for driving under the influence and the other for maiming the woman that she hit.

When involved in an accident while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, drivers need to make sure that they know their legal rights and all of the options that they have as the case goes forward. This is especially true when injuries could lead to significant secondary charges.
