When you’re caught with drugs, you can be in deep trouble with the law. What’s important for you to realize is that drug charges can vary significantly, and it can be easy for the prosecution to accuse you of being involved in more than you were. Anytime you’re accused of dealing, possessing or manufacturing drugs, you need to make sure to have a strong legal defense.
That’s what these men may want to consider; two men from Bristol, Virginia, have been charged with a number of felony drug charges. One, a 27-year-old, faces charges for possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or distribute cocaine, the possession of a firearm while in possession of methamphetamine, the possession of cocaine, the possession of a concealed weapon and the possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for possessing marijuana.
Another 27-year-old man was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute methamphetamine.
The two were stopped by police deputies when they were in a vehicle outside a motel on Exit 10 on July 4. Police attended the scene after receiving a report of possible drug activity at the hotel in Bristol.
In cases like this one, the people involve face time in prison. You can defend yourself, though. Proving that you didn’t intent to distribute and were only in possession, for instance, can reduce your sentence. The same is true if you can come to an agreement for a plea deal with the help of your attorney.
