Criminal defenses can have different purposes

On Behalf of | Dec 30, 2016 | Criminal Defense

We recently discussed some of the options that you have for a defense against theft charges. If you recall, the circumstances of your case can impact what options you have for the defense. That post brings up an important point — it is imperative that you don’t try to use a cookie-cutter defense against any criminal charges.

When you are facing criminal charges, you might want to get everything taken care of as quickly as possible. While that is understandable, it might not be in your best interest to rush things. In some cases, we will need to scrutinize the claims that are being made in your case. We may need to look into how evidence was handled and how your name came up in the case.

We know that it is difficult to have criminal charges hanging over your head. You might get lost in thoughts about the possible penalties and effects of a conviction. While this isn’t something that is pleasant, it does help you to remember why you need to fight the charges that were levied against you.

If you did commit the crime that you are being charges with, your concern might not be with being found guilty. Instead, you might be concerned with not having the proverbial book thrown at you. If this is what is going on in your case, we can find out if you are able to get a plea deal or another alternative sentence instead of having to gamble on the sentence that might occur if your case goes through the trial process.
