Beth Thompson

Office Manager & Domestic Relations Paralegal.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Beth is a native of Hampton Roads, and she has dedicated the past 25 years to working with families in divorce, child custody, and adoption matters. After graduating from Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Beth jumped into the legal field, assisting in family law matters at Joseph W. Hood, Jr., PC, and in 2013, joining the W&W team. Beth attended Tidewater Community College where she received an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies. Beth finds great satisfaction in helping divorce and custody clients navigate one of life’s most difficult chapters, and she also loves being part of the joyful adoption process. When not at work, Beth loves spending time with her family, doting on her pet dogs, and planning all sorts of holiday festivities, all to a soundtrack of Chris Stapleton, Pink and Tom Petty.

Cynthia Jarnecke

Litigation Paralegal.
A Hampton Roads native through and through, Cynthia was born in Newport News, attended Denbigh High School, and graduated from Christopher Newport University with a degree in Business Management. Cynthia has been in the legal field for 17 years and has been with W&W since August 2018. Cynthia assists our attorneys in a variety of practice areas, from criminal defense to personal injury. No matter the type of case, Cynthia is dedicated to working on behalf of our clients to achieve the best results possible in each of their cases. Cynthia has been with her Husband, Carl, for 22 years. In addition to caring for her fur babies, Cynthia loves the outdoors, reading, scrapbooking, and taking in lots of live music.

MG Ratliff

Domestic Relations Paralegal.
A native of Hampton Roads, MG was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. MG developed an interest in the legal field while attending college in Northern Virginia, and she has been working in the law since then. Over her career, MG has worked in multiple practice areas, from civil litigation to personal injury, but she has always felt drawn back to family law. She is passionate about helping clients who are going through changes in their family dynamic, always there to try and ease their burden, while making sure they know that they can get through the tough times. MG has an adult son, who is her pride and joy, and she lives in Smithfield with her fur-baby. When she is not bringing a smile to our client’s faces, she loves cooking, reading, and traveling, and she is a huge fan of the ballet.

Verna Whitley

Personal Injury Paralegal.
Born in Mullens, West Virginia, Verna moved to Hampton Roads at the age of 5, and she has lived here ever since. Verna graduated from Bethel High School and then attended St. Leo University, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Verna has been in the legal field for over twenty years, and she has extensive experience in civil litigation. Verna works with Weisberg & Weisberg’s Personal Injury Practice Group, where her exceptional organization and compassionate nature are always on display. When she is not at work, Verna loves spending time with her family, tending to her garden, fishing, and cooking.

Jamie Thistle

Domestic Relations Paralegal.
Born in Hampton, Virginia, Jamie is a Tidewater native. Following her graduation from Phoebus High School, Jamie attended Thomas Nelson Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree of Applied Sciences in Paralegal Studies, as well as a certificate as a legal secretary. Jamie went on to attend James Madison University and Liberty University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Jamie has worked in the legal field since 2012, and she is an integral part of Weisberg & Weisberg’s Domestic Relations Practice Group. When she is not at work, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. She loves gardening, reading, traveling, and days spent at the beach. Jamie is also an avid music fan, and she is always looking forward to her next trip to her favorite vacation spots in Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas.

Fifi Ghavam

Bookkeeping and File Administration.
An original member of Team Weisberg, Fifi has been with the firm since it first opened its doors in 2008 as a sole-practitioner’s office with a staff of 2. From day one, she has been the backbone of the office, always ready to jump in and help with any task that needed to be done. Today, Fifi focuses her efforts as the firm’s bookkeeper and file administrator. Compassionate, dedicated, and exceptionally organized, she is always eager to help clients with their questions and share comforting words with them as they navigate difficult situations. In her free time, Fifi loves spending time with her family, spoiling her five grandchildren, and listening to audiobooks.

James Coats

Business Development.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, but Texas- raised, James works in business development for W&W. A United States Marine Corps veteran and pilot, James brings his grit, tenacity, and problem-solving skills to the table on a daily basis, helping the firm trouble-shoot logistics and develop new and exciting opportunities for our attorneys and staff. In his free time, he can be found refurbishing classic sports cars, including vintage Corvettes and Cobras, which he has built several of, so far. James is also a fan of Jimmy Buffett, boating, and the beach, and he enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren in Virginia and Florida.
